Adventure awaits.

Help us raise £50,000 for Arthur Rank Hospice Charity

The Challenge

We are taking part in the Baltic Sea Circle 2022 rally, the northernmost adventure rally on the planet. We’ll be traveling over 5000 miles, and visiting 11 countries around Europe in 16 days, including making our way to the North Cape (Nordkapp) in Norway.

We’ll be doing this challenge in a 1987 Porsche 944, which hasn’t been driven since 2017 after breaking down. Over the last few year it’s been undergoing repair and restoration and will be ready for the challenge in summer 2022.

The route will take us from the UK, through the Netherlands to get to the start line in Hamburg, Germany. From there, travelling through Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland until we return to the finish line in Hamburg. We’ll be doing this with no GPS and no motorways too. You can find out more about the challenge here.

Why?

Stephen’s wife Jenny was diagnosed with terminal cancer in 2019, and unfortunately passed away in 2020. During Jenny’s illness the Arthur Rank Hospice Charity provided top quality care and helped the family make memories during a very difficult time. The charity provides this care free of charge to patients and their families, and Stephen wanted to raise money in memory of Jenny for this worthy cause.

To raise as much money as possible needed an epic challenge, and travelling so far in a 35 year old Porsche seemed like as epic a challenge as could be!

As well as supporting the hospice we recognise that our journey will be polluting to the Earth. To offset that we’ve joined Ecologi to plant trees every month. When we start the rally, we’ll have helped plant nearly 500 trees in the UK, Madagascar and Mozambique, which over their lifetime will offset 100,000 miles worth of our car’s CO2.

How can you help?

The fundraising target is £50,000. We’d love for you to donate directly to the charity via this GoFundMe page, as 100% of your donation goes straight to the charity. To say thank you to our donors, we’ll print your name on the body of the car!

If you are a business and can support the journey in a different way (provide equipment or supplies for example) then we will also give you space on the car for your company logo and name. Please get in touch if you can help!

How can I follow your progress?

The restoration of the car is being documented on Instagram, so follow us there! We’ll also keep that updated with progress on fundraising and the challenge itself. We also have a blog here!

Baltic Sea Circle Day 15 I’d forgotten what real bed felt like, it was amazing. Don’t get me wrong the mattress in the roof tent is comfortable, but not the same as a real bed. After waking up I looked out the window and discovered it had rained in the night, the terrace was wetContinue reading “Kołobrzeg to Hamburg”

Marijampole to Kołobrzeg

Baltic Sea Circle Day 14 It had continued to rain during the night but by morning it had cleared up. We intended to make today a long driving day, since we hadn’t got as far as we anticipated yesterday. Our Airbnb was in Kołobrzeg and we planned to have a stopover in Gdańsk. The taskContinue reading “Marijampole to Kołobrzeg”

Ādaži to Marijampole

Baltic Sea Circle Day 13 We woke up pretty late, with the sun already warming the roof tent like an oven. Sleep had been on and off as the mosquito bites we had acquired the evening before had been incredibly itchy despite our liberal applications of bite relief cream.  We followed our morning rituals ofContinue reading “Ādaži to Marijampole”
