So the plan for accommodation over the rally consists of a few different things. We’ll be taking overnight ferries to and from the Netherlands, which means we can sleep on the journey. We’ll need to sort some hotels for staying in Hamburg, if you have any recommendations let me know!
For the rest if the trip we’re going camping! The choice of tent is key, we wanted something that was really simple to pitch and strike, as spending 20 minutes to do that each morning and evening would be hard when you consider the 6-10 hours of driving we’ll be doing each day.
The obvious choice was a roof tent, one of the most popular choices for road trippers and overlanders! Seeing a roof tent on a Porsche is not new, 996roadtrip on Instagram has a huge following with his 911 located in the NW of the US. I know of a few 944 owners who’ve mounted a roof tent too. A roof tent should be really simple to put up and down and it will provide us with a comfortable foam mattress too! I’ve selected the Ox Overland Dakota 210 tent, which seemed to offer excellent features for the price. I’m already looking forward to mounting it on the roof bars, and taking it out for a trial run.
Keep and eye out for the blog post where we mount it and give a tour! In any case, the Porsche is going to look awesome with a tent on the roof!
